Many of our projects focus on the preservation, adaptive reuse, or revival of existing spaces — breathing new life into environments that carry cultural and emotional value. One such example is the iconic Jazzve café which is now called J Space Urban Hub, formerly located at Tumanyan 35, a place deeply embedded in Yerevan’s collective memory.
Based on a concept developed by Maeutica company, our interior design approach was far more than just creating another café aesthetic. It was a revival — a reinterpretation of a space that was not only about architecture, but about people, stories, and atmosphere.
This was the first café concept in Yerevan to introduce multiple functional zones within a highly complex floor plan in historic building. The challenge was to ensure these zones interacted harmoniously, creating a unified experience and cohesive ambiance.
As with any adaptive reuse project, unexpected issues arose during the process, demanding on-the-spot solutions that stayed true to the original concept. One of the key design features — a long bar made of tuff stone — not only resolved several functional challenges but became the emotional and architectural core of the space.
These kinds of projects remind us that architecture isn't just about design — it's about meaning, memory, and how space can carry both personal and collective narratives
