CONSERVATION AND REUSE PROJECT

10 /2017

Status- concept

A project we implemented in 2017, yet one that remains among our most cherished and proudest achievements. Authors of the project: Martirоsyan Lusine and Ruzanna Mkrtchyan. The site is located on Rustaveli Street in the historical center of Kumayri, Gyumri.
This project brings together multiple layers of history—the cultural heritage that has been preserved, the impact of past disasters, and the present, which will inevitably become history. In developing the conceptual design for the preservation and adaptive reuse of this structure, a conservation-based approach was chosen. This method ensures that the site's historical authenticity is preserved and passed down to future generations without distortion.
To adapt the existing structure and integrate a new addition, it was essential to achieve architectural and structural harmony. The new annex was designed to be recognizable, reflecting the era in which it was constructed while respecting the historical context. Preserving and maintaining the heritage we have inherited is crucial to ensuring its transmission to future generations.
